Martial Art Tricksters in the UK? (or US) I need advice please?
I am just starting to develop a lot of interest in doing martial art tricks. I have done martial arts before (kung fu) until the first belt (which isnt that much i guess) and i still practice it in my room so i dont forget.
However i am interested in tricking, as a way of keeping fit, yet fun.
What are the best ways to start here in the UK? Nobody i know, or heard of, ever done this here in the UK. USA seems popular with this stuff.
Should i take up gymnastics? I was thinking that but i dont want to end up in a glass with only girls (lightly speaking, i will if i have to of course!).
I dont have any friends who would spot for me, if i practice on grass. But do you think doing some basic moves like 540 kick, is safe doing alone?
Any kind of advice is really welcome. If your a trickster in London or brighton, do contact me, i would like to know more ppl interested in this.
Thanks in advance ppl!!! ![]()
well i think it was kung fu anyway. I know japanese systems have belts, and chinese dont. (at least i think this is how it works). But my class was simply called martial arts, i joined it at school when i was 17 (now im 22). So im not sure exactly what it was.
A belt in Kung Fu? that's odd. Try taking Wu Shu. It's very acrobatic and has plenty of spectacular tricks. Not much you could use in a fight but ya.

If martial arts are hard to find where you are try asking the police, colleges, and military institutions. If they're not able to offer you courses directly one of them could certainly point you in the right direction.

Yes, you should take up gymnastics. Most of the tricking stuff actually happens as special classes in gymnastics schools, it's going to require a lot of specialty padding as it really IS a specialized form of gymnastics with a martial arts flair, so if you want to find it, try looking at gymnastics schools.
Plus gymnastics skill will let you start tricking on your own, once you get good at it, plus developing good balance, rhythm, muscles, cardio, etc etc.
I know there are some good people in the UK, but I'm Canadian so I haven't got any links for you. My advice is to look for local gymnastics schools.
