not at all they do have memorized probably everything. especially bobby fisher but didnt play off of memorization. the used it to make something new. listen to how they both speak aobut interview even bobby fischer said chess is dead now becuase player play off of nothing but memorization.

  9. Hoopskidoodle Says:

    Are you suggesting …
Are you suggesting that Bobby Fischer and this Waitzkin kid didn’t have expansive repertoires of openings many plies deep? You’ll have to forgive my dubiousness, dude.

  10. resistance821 Says:

    not really all …
not really all those other guys you mentioned simply have very good memories and play off of memorization. It was much different for bobby fischer and josh.. and you can see it in their playing style. open you mind dude.

It is a shame that Fischer never got to play Kasparov, the best ever in the chess world.

GM is just a title, …
GM is just a title, you have to make norms that only FIDE understand to achieve it. He smashed a lot of GMs even as a 11yr boy. He has the strengh but not the norms, thats it

  18. Hoopskidoodle Says:

    I was talking about …
I was talking about the cover of a popular chess program. I didn’t think is necessary to specifically omit mediocre professional chess players.

  19. vibovitold Says:

    you said ” …
you said “professional chess players”, not every professional chess player is a grandmaster, let alone a so-called super-grandmaster, like all the players you mentioned by name. of course Waitzkin has never been nearly as strong as they are and I’m not questioning *that*

  20. Hoopskidoodle Says:

    Correction: as you …
Correction: as you inferred on your own. I didn’t “make it sound” one way or the other. Moreover, I just picked that Magnus kid out of my . The comment would be just as valid if I’d mentioned any Grand Master. My point was that JW has no business being on the cover of a Chess Program. Vishy Anand, Magnus C., Kramnik, Judit Polgar etc… do.

  21. vibovitold Says:

    but Magnus is a …
but Magnus is a genius – not quite your average professional chess player, as you made it sound :)

  22. vibovitold Says:

    he won competitions …
he won competitions in Tai Chi, not in brazilian jiu-jitsu – there’s hardly two more different martial arts :) (I do not comment on his attitude since I don’t know him)

lol btw sorry for calling josh a clown, he certainly isn’t, i respect him highly, its just that i heard interviews with bobby where he was mad about the release of searching for bobby fischer b/c he wasnt getting any money for it

  24. slaviKn17 Says:

mayb the gm was on …
mayb the gm was on coke, it seems hard to believe that a person who had a rating of 2400+ just didnt want to be a GM.. he was obviously involved in chess, my view is he wasnt good enough..

  25. sasoulas Says:
